What is the name for a ninja’s primary blade?

I know that the samurai would carry a Katana, Wakizashi, and Tanto. But I am looking for the name of the sword that would be carried by a ninja, the one that would usually not have a handguard.

i’ve heard of the ninjato (like this: http://www.bonsaiblades.com/Practical-Shinobi-Ninja-to-40Black-Same41_p_73.html ). according to wiki, “there have been no actual Ninjato found, and their existence is purely speculative. In all probability, ninja used the standard swords of the time.”

Japanese Sword Construction $81.25 Katana construction was the labourintensive bladesmithing process developed in Japan for forging katana and other Japanese blades. Katana and wakizashi were often forged with different profiles, different blade thicknesses, and varying amounts of grind. Wakizashi were not simply scaleddown katana; they were often forged in hirazukuri or other such forms which were very rare on katana. The daish was not always forged together.
